BRAZIL

This painting depicts a young girl from the Ka’apor tribe in Brazil's Amazon. This tribe commemorates a girl’s transition into womanhood with a special ritual. After her first menstruation, a girl undergoes a long period of isolation during which she must demonstrate strength by overcoming physical trials and learning new skills. Once the girl is ready to be a woman, she wears this ceremonial attire and feeds her community.

MIRROR

This is a different angle of Sol, the young boy who shows up in Tessa's dreams. Sol unveils his golden eyes for the first time. Tessa draws on the powerful and complex emotions she felt upon seeing his eyes to create this image. It is up to the viewer to interpret Sol's inner state. Tessa fortuitously came across three four-leaf clovers while creating this painting, which she took as signs of luck and included in the work.

THE NOMAD

The Nomad draws inspiration from the Tuareg nomads, a group known for their resilience and brave spirit as they traverse the vast Sahara. These nomads symbolize wandering and embody the spirit of resilience in the face of adversity. The nomad's face and eyes embody a plethora of experiences. This is also a metaphor for the diverse stories that weave through our individual life paths.
